I loved the musical. It has been awhile since I have been to a show, so the sets, lighting, and costumes just amazed me! I also figured they would stray from the text, but I never thought it would be that different! Nessarose with arms, Dr. Dillamond alive and well, and Fiyero with Gaaalinda. My favorite had to be the interpretation of Gaaaalinda. While I like the singing, one song Elphie did was so loud I couldn't understand the words. Am I alone on that one? Which ending do you prefer: the death by water or the ha-ha I tricked you all for love? I don't think that a happy ending for Wicked makes sense. (maybe it does in the musical since it was much lighter).
Looking back, I also noticed that I didn't even blink an eye when Fiyero left Glinda. Usually, I would think, "JERK!" and "Poor Girl!" I think it is an amazing mind trick when an author/director can make you like someone who does bad things. (Hence why I love the show Dexter so much - nothing like rooting for the mass murderer!) And who doesn't connect to these characters or laugh because you know someone just like Glinda? haha!!!
Well, I rarely have "girl" time so I enjoyed this thoroughly. I can't thank everyone enough for providing a wonderful time in my only social outing of the month. :o) I can't wait until we do our next "field trip".
