The quote on the front of my paperback says, "We should read it to learn about the world and about what it means to be human."
I struggle with the idea of this book being about being "human". The violence and suffering imposed by some (including the author) seem anything but human. I think the book is more about survival and the possibility of returning to humanness after being in a savage world.
Any thoughts?
